Back to Annapolis, Maryland. It’s such a cute seaside town. Well, it’s technically on a bay, but the water is there and it’s a major part of life. It gets cold in the winter though, and at that point who wants to be out sailing? As we were driving into town we passed by these boats — chilling until fairer weather prevailed.
I took the photo with my iPhone and as I adjusted the settings on the picture I quickly realized my thumb or finger had made its way into the picture. We were driving by these so I had to snap the pic as quickly as possible. So, I cropped to eliminate my finger and much of the sidewalk. I increased the exposure and contrast, and reduced the highlights, clarity, and lightened the shadows. I cooled the picture because I wanted it to be clearly cold and dreary out. I had to sharpen it quite a bit because of the iphone image quality and reduce the noise a little bit. I cloned out some white either trash or puddles along the sidewalk and the sign to the far left of the picture (ended up not being in the final edit). I used a graduated filter to darken the exposure of the sidewalk. Here is the original:
